Scope Of Services
ISD is the minimization of risk and hazards of materials utilized or produced by the project design. The first step of ISD is intrinsic safety review which identifies potential hazards that arises from the materials that are present in the project.
Risk and hazards identified in the intrinsic safety review are then assessed with the following approaches to establish effective mitigation measures:
·Replace/eliminate: Replace one item with another, which is less dangerous
·Dilution/mitigation: Reduce potential consequences by limiting process conditions
·Minimize: Reduce the quantity of hazardous materials
·Simplification/restriction: Deal with problems by designing them properly rather than adding additional equipment or features. Consider using complex procedures only when necessary to minimize operational and maintenance errors
Crude oil, natural gas, LNG, gas processing and export, oil refining, coal chemical processing, pharmaceutical plant, chemical refining, etc.
ISD can be carried at different stages of the project include project feasibility study, FEED, detailed design or during operation where new materials are introduced to the facility.
ISD focus on:
·Feasibility Study: Replace/eliminate material or minimize usage
·FEED & Detailed Design: Simplify material /limit material usage
the following analysis could be performed after ISD
